I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It’s pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the he-ro-in-e,though I didn’t think she’s beautiful. But she’s smart. However, I didn’t pay much attention to the plot. I thought it’s so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven’t read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice. In fact, I didn’t understand the story at that time. I didn’t know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didn’t find where’ s the prejudice. I thought it’s normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it. I’m a prejudiced person so I can’t find where’s wrong.I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.

But The Old Man and the Sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday.Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre.My first impression of this story was from screen.It's long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. 这本书就是美国著名作家，海明威撰写的一本小说——《老人与海》。
海明威在《老人与海》这篇文章里塑造的那位老人，就是一个敢与失败抗衡的典型的例子。
《老人与海》这本书了古巴一个名叫桑提亚哥的老渔夫，独自一人出海打鱼，在一无所获的八十四天之后钓到了一条无比巨大的马林鱼。这条马林鱼简直是太大了，老人从来没有听说过也没有见过，他比老人的船还要长两英尺，马林鱼不光体型很大，而且劲儿也出乎意料的大。它拖着渔夫的小木船在这无边无际的大海上漂流了整整两天两夜，老渔夫在这“漫长”的两天两夜里也经历了从未经受过的艰难考验。
老人桑提亚哥费尽了九牛二虎之力，终于把这条大鱼给刺死，为了不用费太多的劲儿，老人只好把它栓在船头。然而就在老人高兴地时候，在他面前又出现了几条凶猛的大白鲨，为了不让鲨鱼把自己的“收获”抢走，桑提亚哥只能与鲨鱼展开了殊死搏斗。结果这条大马林鱼被鲨鱼吃的不留一点肉末。可怜的渔夫桑提亚哥最后天回家的只剩下一副光溜溜的鱼骨架和一身的重病。
桑提亚哥虽然在这八十四天之内没有钓到一条鱼，但是他并不气馁。“在第八十五天时，他钓到了一条大马林鱼”这是不自暴自弃最终成功地表现;“为了不让自己捕到的大鱼被一群鲨鱼抢走，老渔夫只好与它们展开殊死拼搏”这是敢于挑战现实的表现;“最后老渔夫拖回家的只剩一副光溜溜的鱼骨架和一身的重伤”这是失败的结果，即使是这样，渔夫也没有灰心而是在鼓励自己。
看完了这篇文章，我似乎变了一个人：以前我只要一被别人夸，我就会很骄傲，而且从来不敢挑战自己，不敢面对现实，也没有坚持不懈的精神。自从看完这本书，我就变得十分谦虚而且也敢于面对现实，做任何事都坚持不懈。

一个人不是为了失败而生的。一个人可以毁灭，但是不能打败。
一个简简单单的故事，一个平凡的老渔夫，一条大马林鱼，在茫茫的大海上上演了一出看似简单而又不平凡的故事。
它讲述了一位叫圣地亚哥的老渔夫在连续84天没有不到一条鱼之后，遇到了一条大得让人吃惊的马林鱼。经过了整整三天三夜的较量以后，老人终于杀死了那条大马林鱼。不过在返航途中，不幸碰上了鲨鱼的袭击，老人勇敢的和鲨鱼搏斗，但是，回到港口时，那条巨大的马林鱼只剩下了一幅光秃秃的骨架 。
人可以失败，但不可以击败，外在的肉体可以接受这么，但是内在的意志是神圣不可侵犯的，这是《老人与海》一再强调的论点。那条大马林鱼就像我们所追求的的东西，那一群鲨鱼是不可避免的厄运，千变万化不可测的大海好似千变万化，变化无常的人类社会，有许许多多的人和老人一样，勇敢的去捕捉自己所求，永不言败。
当你努力的去追求自己的想追求的或者征服自己想征服的,无论最后是捕到一条完整的马林鱼还是一副空骨架，这都已经无所谓了，因为一个人的生命价值已在那追捕马林鱼的过程中充分地体现了。曾经为自己的理想努力追求过、奋斗过，难道他不是一个胜利者吗?老渔夫就是敢于挑战自身缺陷及自己勇气和信心的胜利者。从世俗胜利观的角度看，老渔夫不是最后的胜利者，因为尽管开始他战胜了大马林鱼，但是最终大马林鱼还是让鲨鱼吃了，他只是带着大马林鱼的白骨架子回到了岸上，也就是说，鲨鱼才是胜利者。可是，在理想主义者眼里，老渔夫就是胜利者，因为他始终没有向大海,没有向大马林鱼,更没有向鲨鱼妥协和投降。

我尊敬这位“老人”，因为它独特。而这又正是《老人与海》的灵魂。
“可是人不能认输，人可以毁灭，但不能屈服”这句话被印在了《老人与海》的封面上。跟老人一样，这句话拥有坚定、永不放弃的决心。老人出海八十四天，一鱼不获。出海第八十五天，上钩了一条奇特的大鱼。老人的船被大鱼拖了许多天，当中发生了许多事。钓到大鱼后，又遭鲨鱼袭击，费尽周折才回到出发时的港湾。
老人在尾声说自己被打败了，被什么打败?鲨鱼吗?还是自己?显然文章的大部分内容都是在写老人与大海“互相伤害”。但读完整篇文章，我更觉得他是在与自己斗争，斗争自己未来的命运。如果是我，孤身一人，在小船中，漂流海上，在这之前还对别人说自己是来打鱼的。我会变成什么样子呢?老人勇敢、不向生活认输的精神实在令我敬佩。
他在捕捉大鱼的时候，左手抽筋了。他为了自己的左手能够正常发挥吃了好多生鱼肉。他总喜欢在独自一人捕鱼的时候大声地自言自语，或是安慰自己，或是思考捕鱼的方法。他回忆过去的事情，幻想各种可能性。他还喜欢同鱼、鸟聊天，跟天空、海洋说话。这些特点，在渔民身上并不常见。
这么一想，这应对了笑猫的那句话：性格决定命运。不过命运中多多少少会夹杂着一些运气。也是，吉人自有天相。这位老人有尊严，有自信;还勇敢，更冷静。困难乐观面对，成果一起分享。可谓是一位奇人哪!他几天时间经历如此多事，还从不放弃，眼睛仍是坚强有力。有付出不一定有收获，有得到却一定有损失。这就是世界一直所遵守的条例。
