1、字迹清晰，段落分明(clear)：
总的来说，要给阅卷老师一种舒服的视觉感。字体不要太大，也不要太小，以行间距的1/3―1/2为合适;另外，大小要一致，不要忽大忽小;字母的倾斜方向要一致，不要东倒西歪;要抵着给出的虚线写，不能上窜下跳。
段落一般可为三段，采用段首缩进式，即每段开头空4至8个字母的格，每段段首缩进的量要一致，要让阅卷人一目了然。
2、内容完整，紧扣题目要求(complete)：
一般来说，四六级写作都会给出三点汉语提示，考生应严格按照三点写成三段或四段。不要有遗漏，也不要随意改变提纲要点的顺序。因为这是一个流水工作，阅卷人要在30秒左右的时间打出分数，所以不希望看到与提纲严重背离的作文。
3、确保正确，再呈现亮点(correct)：
这一条是最核心的。在写作时间和篇幅都比较短的情况下，考生写出的内容几乎是相差无几的，唯一的判断标准就是语言的质量。因此要首先保证语法和拼写正确，哪怕用小词、短句也可以。有能力的话再追求闪光的词句。
例如，有考生在写作文时，写出了这样的开头句：There is no denying the fact that the vital of name has been a hotly debated topic in China. 这句话是套用范文句式，基本结构是对的，但有两处明显的错误。一处为vital，是个形容词，而这里应该用名词。作者可能想用一个高级词汇来替换importance以显示用词多样，结果弄巧成拙。另外一处错误为name之前应该有冠词a，其实题目中都给了，结果这位同学忽略了，缺乏基本的语法意识。
其实作文中常犯的语法错误除了冠词错误，还包括时态错误、名词和动词单复数错误、代词不一致错误、词性错误以及句子主谓不完整错误，下笔时一定要谨慎。
4、语言简练，论据得当(concise)：
切忌嗦，不要过于重复和堆砌。有些考生背诵了一些经典的句型，为了凑字就全用上了，给人低层次的感觉。如最后一段有同学写道：As far as I am concerned, weighing the pros and cons of the arguments, I am inclined to agree with the latter point of view. 其实As far as I am concerned和weighing the pros and cons of the arguments用一个就行了。
另外，尽管内容不及语言重要，但也肯定会影响分数的。考生应尽量平时多练，以期在考场上也能很快想到一些有力的理由和贴切的例证。
强烈建议：在文章第一段(开头)用一长一短，且先长后短;在文章主体部分，要先用一个短句解释主要意思，然后在阐述几个要点的时候采用先短后长的句群形式，定会让主体部分妙笔生辉!文章结尾一般用一长一短就可以了。
5、先总后分，善用连词(coherent)：
英语文章特别喜欢先总后分或开门见山的格局，另外，段落之间和句子之间的形式连接手段特别明显，即关联词用的很多。在写作的时候，几乎就是把给出的三点提纲作为每段的开头句，然后再加上两三个扩展句即理由或例证句就可以了。当然有时候为了论证自然或扩展字数也可以加上一点铺垫的句子。
如有一年真题作文开头一句既可以是Some people claim that names are of great importance. 也可以是There is no denying the fact that it is a controversial topic whether names are important or not. 然后再说Some hold the positive view.后面再加上两三句论证的话。论证句或扩展句之间最好有连接词，如First, Second, Besides, Also, Similarly, In the same way, However等等。
6、敢于表达自己的观点：
不要一味地为了保证语言正确而裹步不前，只说一些小学生的话。如有同学第一段时写道：Some people think that names are important. They say that, if a person has a name, we can remember him. If he does not have a name, we cannot remember him. 这样的作文倒是没有语言错误，但开头写成这样，肯定也得不了高分。

每个阅卷老师都需要在规定的时间内保质保量的阅完规定数量的试卷，则实际上老师停留在每份试卷上的时间是非常的短的，甚至只有十几秒的时间。在阅卷之前，老师们会接受一个简短的培训，清楚相关规定。然后熟读不同等级的作文，做到心中有数。接着在阅卷的时候采用global scoring的原则，先大致上看下文章属于哪一个等级，再看有没有一些基础的、低级的错误，若没有则给出该等级的高分;若有，则酌情扣分。
由于阅卷老师在每份作文上停留的时间很短，这就决定了他们只能重点的去看一些内容，对每份作文从整体上把握。其实这就像我们的小学语文作文一样，相信当时的语文老师已经告诉过我们：开头、结尾一定要写的非常优美。同理，在英文写作中，这也同样适用。对英文作文来说，关键的地方就包括开头、结尾和段落的首句，由于我们的写作是议论文，这些地方是最可能出现中心的地方。重点抓这些地方，可以帮助老师在短时间内抓住重点。所以，我们在写作时可以放心、大胆的在这些地方埋伏亮点，并且不能出现单词拼写等低级错误，避开不会写的词汇和短语。若实在万不得已，允许在其它部分犯下小小的错误，因为这些地方老师很少去关注。
写作部分的分值相对于其他部分来说是比较高的，所以我们要尽可能在这部分得高分。那么高分作文有哪些特点呢?首先，必须要包含所有的内容要点。题目中会给出一些points,那么我们需要做的就是把所有的点都要写全，不全面肯定是要扣分的;其次，应该包含一些高级词汇。比如重要的，我们通常会用important,但这是我们在一开始接触英语就会的，可以用一些高级的词来替换比如vital,crucial,significant等等;然后，可以使用一些复杂句式来替代简单句式，比如用些强调句、倒装句、虚拟句等来表达;最后，可使用过度衔接词来使文章衔接更紧密。
既然高分作文有这样一些特点，那我们在实际写作中该怎么去做呢?
①设置观点鲜明的开头。怎么说?我们的四六级作文，通常都是提出一个现象，不同的人有不同的观点，然后问你的观点是什么?这就决定了我们的写作是一篇议论体裁的写作。所以我们一开始就可以采用开门见山，点明主题的方式。对于这个问题A认为是什么，B认为是什么，然后点出我的观点是什么。
②紧扣主题的`结尾。在第二段进行多方面论述后，最后在第三段要首尾呼应，通过改写主题句，再次点明主题。
③衔接顺畅的中间段。在第一段提出观点后，第二段应该对你的理由进行多方面论述了。根据老师的阅读特点，我们在第一段可以先总说，作本段的中心句。然后从多角度进行论证。为使段落衔接顺畅，可以使用一些关联词，如and,or,but,so等;还可以使用序数词，使文章看起来更有层次感。
